Tyler Henry Weight Gain Explained and It Has Nothing to Do With His Diet

Tyler Henry

As is almost always the case, comments began as soon as someone noticed that something appeared different. Screenshots went viral. Threads piled up. People were debating a public figure’s body with the kind of confidence that only comes from lacking any real information when the typical internet machinery kicked in. The majority of those commentors were unaware of Tyler Henry’s three brain surgeries in a single year, or they didn’t bother to find out. It was never really about weight at all in the Tyler Henry weight gain discussion.

Born on January 13, 1996 raised in Hanford, California, Henry became well-known thanks to Hollywood Medium on E!, a program that featured him in American living rooms as a young clairvoyant who conveyed messages from the dead to bereaved families. Almost by design, the emotionally charged television was successful.

With Life After Death with Tyler Henry, he later switched to Netflix, where he was able to reach a much larger audience. He had two published books, more than a million Instagram followers a respectable career in a highly specialized field by the time he was in his late twenties. Then it became impossible to ignore his health condition, which he had been quietly managing for a large portion of his life.

Since birth, he had a benign colloid cyst that was dangerously close to his brain’s third ventricle. In these discussions, the word “benign” does a lot of deceptive work. Benign does not imply harmless. It does not imply manageable in the absence of assistance.

The pressure that develops inside the skull when these cysts obstruct the flow of cerebrospinal fluid can be truly fatal. In 2014, shortly after turning eighteen, Henry had his first emergency brain surgery. Then, because the cyst kept coming back, he underwent three more surgeries in 2025 alone: in May, November December. Each procedure was more difficult than the previous one.

Henry disclosed that he woke up during one of the surgeries, which was one of the more disturbing details he disclosed to the public. He also talked about having a “out-of-body” experience during the procedure, which garnered additional public attention because his entire professional identity is based on such a claim. Hundreds of thousands of people responded to videos Howie Mandel posted of Henry discussing the event on Facebook and Instagram. They weren’t all being nice about it.

In reality, steroids something much more commonplace and medically standard were the driving force behind the Tyler Henry weight gain controversy. Corticosteroids are frequently used to control inflammation and swelling following brain surgery. Changes in appetite, fluid retention a redistribution of fat to the face that results in what doctors refer to as Cushingoid features sometimes referred to more simply as moon face are the well-documented side effects.

You can see it. It is transient and disappears when the dosage is reduced. Because they had witnessed the same thing happen to family members following similar procedures, a number of people who responded to Mandel’s posts recognized it right away.

Henry addressed the rumors head-on on Instagram in December. He claimed that the entire experience had been “a weight on me for a long time”, that he was recovering nicely that the cyst had finally been completely removed. For those who were aware of his true experiences, the wording struck a different chord. Amanda Kloots, Holly Robinson Peete, Ricki Lake other celebrities left comments. The post received tens of thousands of likes. His candor about it seemed to change the way the discussion was framed, at least for some.

The discrepancy between what actually occurred and what the internet chose to discuss is difficult to ignore. During his adult life, a man with a brain abnormality underwent four surgeries, woke up in the middle of one of them spent months recovering.

The least complicated aspect of the entire narrative was the physical changes brought about by that recuperation. In some way, they were also the section that sparked the most discussion. Since then, Henry has resumed his regular posting schedule, talked about upcoming tour dates appeared in videos where he essentially resembles himself once more. The cyst has disappeared. The face that so many strangers were worried about has changed back to the one they knew from Netflix.

The medical facts of Tyler Henry’s situation aren‘t really debatable, regardless of whether you think the whole thing is elaborate theater or believe in what he does professionally. Reasonable people genuinely land on both sides. Brain surgery is a serious procedure. Doing it four times three times in a single year and once as a teenager is not a small detail in a narrative about someone’s appearance. It’s the narrative.
